"Jago Jagao" was the constant slogan of Hakim Muhammad Saeed Shaheed, a friend and sympathizer of infants. Hakim Sahib was a good friend and true sympathizer of children.

They wanted our children to be good children. This series of short essays or columns was started by Hamdard Nonhal in the year 2000. Since then, he has been writing this work every month. Hakim Sahib read carefully the nine-year-old opinions about this column which were published in Hamdard Nonhal in the second month, and he took care of these opinions in his future writings. This series of Jago Jagao will continue even after the martyrdom of Hakim Sahib because we have decided to continue republishing the old columns. 

I had compiled the Jago Jagao collection long ago under the same name. Then in year 9, another collection called "Book Friends" Compiled and published by Hakim Sahib also wrote its preface under the title "Jago Jago". In it, Hakeem Sahib praised friendship in a very interesting way. Hakim Sahib wrote: What is friendship The bottom line is loyalty. Friendship cannot be temporary. یہ کتاب کیا ہے؟ یہ کتاب معلوماتی نہیں ہے نہ یہ کتاب تاریخی ہے۔ یہ کتاب سائنسی بھی نہیں ہے۔ یہ کتاب مذہبی بھی نہیں ہے، لیکن اس کتاب میں یہ سب باتیں بھی ہیں کیوں کہ یہ کتاب ایک خزانہ ہے کام کی باتوں کا ایسی باتوں کا خزانہ جو زندگی گزارنے کا سلیقہ سکھاتی ہیں جو کامیابی کے گر بتاتی ہیں۔ جو سکون سے زندہ رہنے کے راز کھولتی ہیں، جو انسان کو پریشانیوں اور تکلیفوں سے بچاتی ہیں۔ یہ کتاب آسان زبان اور دل چسپ انداز میں پڑھنے والوں کو ایسے مشورے دیتی ہے جن پر عمل کر کے اچھی زندگی گزاری جاسکتی ہے۔ یہ حکیم محمد سعید شہید کے ان چھوٹے چھوٹے مضامین کا مجموعہ ہے جو وہ نونہالوں کے لیے بڑی محبت سے لکھتے تھے۔ ان کا مقصد یہ تھا کہ وہ نونہالوں کو شروع ہی سے وہ راستے اور طریقے بتادیں جن کو اختیار کر کے نونهال اچھے انسان اور اسے مسلمان بن سکیں۔ "جاگو جگاو“ نونہالوں کے دوست اور ہمدرد حکیم محمد سعید شہید کا مستقل نعرہ تھا۔ حکیم صاحب بچوں کے اچھے دوست اورسچے ہمدرد تھے۔ وہ چاہتے تھے کہ ہمارے بچے اچھے بچے بنیں۔ اسی لیے وہ ان کے لیے ایسی باتیں لکھتے تھے جو عام طور پر کتابوں میں نہیں ملتے بلکہ جو زندگی کے و طویل تجربوں سے حاصل ہوتی ہیں جو سوچنے سمجھنے کا نتیجہ ہوتی ہیں جو وہ اچھے اور بڑے لوگوں کی صحبت میں بیٹھنے سے معلوم ہوتی ہیں، جو سفر کرنے اور ملکوں ملکوں گھومنے پھرنے اور دیکھنے سے آتی ہیں جو باکمال لوگوں کے خیالات اور ہدایات پڑھنے سے آتی ہیں، جو بزرگوں کی خدمت کرنے سے سمجھ میں آتی ہیں۔ حکیم صاحب نے "جاگو جگاو“ کے عنوان سے یہ مختصر مضامین یا کالم لکھنے کا سلسلہ ۱۹۶۴ء سے ہمدرد نونہال میں شروع کیا تھا۔ تب سے وہ ہر مہینے یہ کام پابندی سے لکھتے تھے۔ اس کالم کے متعلق نو سالوں کی رائیں جو دوسرے مہینے کے ہمدرد نونہال میں شائع ہوتی تھیں، حکیم صاحب توجه سے پڑھتے تھے اور ان راوں کا وہ اپنی آینده تحریروں میں خیال رکھتے تھے۔ جاگو جگاو کا یہ سلسلہ تو حکیم صاحب کی شہادت کے بعد بھی جاری رہے گا کیوں کہ ہم نے فیصلہ کیا ہے کہ پرانے کالم دوبارہ شائع کرتے رہیں گے۔ جاگو جگاو کا مجموعہ بہت پہلے اسی نام سے میں نے مرتب کیا تھا۔ پھر ۱۹۸۸ء میں ایک اور مجموعه "کتاب دوستاں" کے نام سے مرتب اور شائع کیا۔ اس کا دیباچہ بھی حکیم صاحب نے "جاگو جگاو" کے عنوان سے لکھا تھا۔ اس میں حکیم صاحب نے دوستی کی تعریف بڑے دل چسپ انداز سے کی تھی۔ حکیم صاحب نے لکھا تھا : دوستی کیا ہے؟ پایان وفا باندھنا ہے۔ دوستی وقتی نہیں ہوسکتی۔   آپ دوستی کی شان یہ ہے کہ ایک بار ہو جائے۔ مسعود احمد برکاتی
